Although Austin is maybe not the first place that comes to mind, the city is a great place to learn how to scuba dive. Austin Aqua Sports is a major aquatic centre. Whether you are an advanced diver or a first timer this is a great place to cool down outside the glare of the Texan sun. The centre is a 6,000-square-foot area with a 12-foot deep pool and is situated north of the University of Texas.

For team sports, head to the 'Bat Cave', home of the Austin Ice Bats, first formed only 10 years ago. A great little stadium with a 7,000-seat capacity, ice hockey here makes for a great day out. The 'Bat Cave' is located at The Travis County Exposition Center.
