Information about Sport in Chicago - Chicago, Illinois (IL), USA
Chicagoans take great pride in their home sports teams and for good reason; over the years the city has amassed an impressive number of professional sporting championships. One of the city's dominant teams throughout the 1990s was the home basketball team, the Chicago Bulls, who play regularly at the United Centre in Chicago. Loyalties for major league baseball teams fall into two camps, the White Sox, who play at White Sox Park, and the Cubs, who play at the famous Wrigley Field. Another team that has seen numerous championships is the American football team the Chicago Bears, who regularly play at Soldier Field.
For those who prefer a more participatory role, Chicago has numerous sporting options including cycling and rollerblading, with over 20 miles of bike paths near the lake. Swimming in Lake Michigan is also an option, as is renting a canoe, kayak or spending a day on a boat. Tennis is also popular, with the best place to play being the Chicago Daley Bicentennial Plaza in Grant Park.
