Washington has a wide variety of fully-equipped gymnasiums and exercise facilities to choose from. Jogging and cycling are popular forms of exercise in Washington and its large parks and wide, tree-lined streets provide a perfect setting in which to exercise. Rowing is also popular in the wide rivers of Washington.

Spectators will find plenty of action in Washington as it is home to professional teams in all four major American sports - baseball, basketball, American football and ice hockey. The Washington Wizards men's and Washington Mystics women's pro basketball teams play their home games at the MCI Center in downtown Washington. The Washington Capitals ice hockey team and the Georgetown Hoyas college basketball team also play at this modern facility. The Redskins are the capital city's American football team and home games are held at Fedex Field, near East Capitol avenue. The Washington Nationals are a recent addition to baseball's major leagues and play at RFK Stadium, between Independence avenue and C street NE.
